Medical Spanish in 3 steps  

Step One: Assessment

We email each client a short questionnaire that establishes their learning style and previous language experience.  We match the clients' medical Spanish needs to their survey responses and create a personalized course for each client.  We then have an in-person meeting to review course objectives and train clients on an iPad that has been set up specifically for their medical Spanish course.

Step Two: Personalized plan

CLC's medical Spanish courses  focus on what health care professionals need to learn and how they will best learn it.  Our program removes the generality of the classroom learning experience, and supersedes other one-way internet- based language programs by giving the client one-on-one coaching, interactive oral ability checkups, and custom tailored, fun learning exercises. Pre-scheduled emails guide clients through an engaging medical Spanish course that employs learning apps, social media, podcasts, music, texting, voice memos, and FaceTime.  All of the course materials are available on the iPad we set up specifically for each client, and learning modules are designed to be 5-15 minute exercises one can do on a lunch break, in between patients, or during a work commute.  Our medical Spanish courses are rigorous, but with a good dose of fun thrown in.  We understand that health care professionals work hard, so we design our courses to be easy to access and enjoyable.  

Step Three: Final testing, Review, & Refreshers

The personalized plan offers a realistic timeframe in which clients gain mastery of the medical Spanish they need to become an effective health care provider to their Spanish speaking patients.  The final oral test will encompass the objectives we outline in Step One.  As promised, we focus on the oral component of the language, so there’s no #2 pencils involved! Once the immediate medical Spanish goals are met, CLC offers regular testing, reviews, and refresher courses as clients continue to develop their language skills.
